Funding Opportunities under the GCRF Umbrella

A number of funding opportunities are available from the GCRF initiative, further details on the available opportunities as well as information and details for managed processes for calls where for example there is an institutional limit.

RCUK Funding

RCUK Is distributing funds through the an RCUK Collective Fund and also through individual Research Councils.

Major opportunities are announced through the RCUK GCRF page. These pages also contain links to historical funding opportunities and other useful information.

Collective Fund Calls

The second collective fund call has now been released, Interdisciplinary Research Hubs to Address Intractable Challenges Faced by Developing Countries, timelines are as follows:

Intention to Submit – 29th September 2017, an RCUK Intention to Submit must be completed (http://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/O3I1I/) in order to be eligible to send in an outline. Please inform us if you are intending to complete an Intention to Submit. We are also interested to know if you are involved in developing a bid that would led by a different institution. The only restriction at this stage is that applicants can only submit one application as PI/Director. For reference, questions to be completed in the intention to submit can be found on the RCUK GCRF pages (http://www.rcuk.ac.uk/documents/gcrf-calls/gcrfhubsitsquestions-pdf/). Details of parties at the College who are interested in this call or who are currently in the process of developing potential bids can be found in our GCRF tracker.

Outlines – 9th November 2017, outlines should be submitted through Je-S and require a letter of support from the Vice-Provost (Research), guidance for requesting letters of support (http://www.imperial.ac.uk/research-and-innovation/research-office/funder-information/funding-opportunities/managed-external-calls/institutional-letters-of-support/). Completed letters of support should be sent to researchoffice.fundingstrategy@imperial.ac.uk by Thursday 26th October for approval and signing. At the outline stage, proposals only require a single letter of support from the lead organisation which will include details of commitments from all organisations. When submitting letters of support for approval please include confirmation of the support being provide from all organisations. Please note that  I will send out reminders once the Intention to Submit stage has been completed.
