Effective leadership and management are vital to the success of Imperial. As a new leader, manager or supervisor joining the College, or recently promoted to a managerial or supervisory position, you will be expected to act in accordance with Imperial Expectations to inspire, empower and facilitate excellent performance in your staff.  These webpages are designed to provide you with support, information and signposting to help you understand and fulfil this role.  They will also direct you to development opportunities for managers and supervisors that are available within Imperial.

In addition, these webpages have also been designed to help existing managers in inducting employees who will have a leadership and management role.

Your induction

Your line manager is responsible for inducting you into your new managerial or supervisory role. Normally this will include an induction programme designed to give you a strong start in your new role.

The College’s induction programme template recommends activities for your first few days, identifies the person responsible for each element of your induction and also allows planning of induction related events further into the future.

There are two induction programme templates available:
