We try to minimise impact on services caused by system maintenance work, however sometimes disruption is unavoidable.
Any scheduled work which may affect access to services, and recently completed work, will be listed here at the earliest opportunity.
Current service status
Pending and completed maintenance
- 6 - 9 Jan 2017: Full BDSG service shutdown. Five-yearly electrical testing in the ICT data centre at South Kensington has been taking place over the last few months. The final stage of this testing requires all power to the data centre to be shutdown consequently all BDSG services will be unavailable over this time. Services will be shutdown from around 1600 on Friday 6 Jan and restored on the morning of Monday 9th. While services are down additional maintenance and upgrades will be carried out on some systems as required.
- 17 - 18 Dec 2016: IPA unavailable. Maintenance work by Qiagen on IPA has been completed and the system is available again to registered users. The new release includes 'enhanced phosphoproteomics data visualisation', improved RNA-Seq support and many data updates. Full details are available in the Qiagen release notes.
- 13 Dec 2016: The network link between the MedBio equipment in the Slough and South Kensington data centres has being migrated from the JANET network to ICT's dedicated fibre links. This has considerably reduced latency on the link and should permit better utilisation of the link capacity. This work resulted in a 7 minute interruption to connectivity between the two data centres.
